London: Local History Day,Saturday 8 June 2013 Local History Day is returning to London, to the Charity Centre, Stephenson Way, NW1 2DP very near Euston Station. The programme runs from 10.30 to 4.30. In the morning the presentation and discussion session will be on the 'England's Immigrants 1330 to 1550' project, led by Dr Jonathan Mackman from the University of York. After the AGM and lunch, the 2013 BALH Awards for Local History will be presented. The annual lecture will be given by Malcolm Chase, Professor of Social History at the University of Leeds. His title is The 'local state' in Regency Britain. Professor Chase will be examining the vital role played by local government in maintaining stability in the turbulent economic and political times following the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Tickets include tea/coffee on arrival and a sandwich lunch.
