Local History Day 2010

Saturday 5 June 2010

Local History Day will take place at the Imperial War Museum, London. The morning discussion session looks at local history and the internet, with introductory presentations by Jacquelene Fillmore and Bamber Gascoigne. This will be followed by the AGM of the Association, and after lunch the 2010 BALH Awards will be presented by our President Professor David Hey. The Annual Lecture will be given by Dr Adam Longcroft from the University of East Anglia. His subject is 'New Insights into Vernacular Architecture: A View from the Flatlands of East Anglia'.

Conference: Researching and writing local histories of the twentieth century

23 - 25 April 2010

This conference is organised by the BALH in association with the University of Lincoln, Bishop Grosseteste University College, Lincoln, and the Society for Lincolnshire Archaeology and History. The theme of the conference reflects the growing interest in the study of 20th century change among local historians. A series of papers and visits will explore the significance of the impact of the 20th century on the landscapes and societies of Lincoln, Lincolnshire and the east Midlands.

COST is £90 for full conference and £17.50 day delegate rate. Booking is via www.lincoln.ac.uk/conferences
